Here's my progress on the wings for "Chasm". We're getting there on step at a time. This was made in Houdini with a temp model from Matt Asanuma.

Current Chasm Progress
So, after lots of trial and error, I've decided upon an approach for the fly-through sequence of Chasm. Shadowed lights in volumes were just taking too long in the renderer. So instead (with Ethan's help) I've opted to use attenuated lights to help shape these clouds. This is my first pass at this approach. There's a lot left on it, but I thought I would share it. I'm once again hopeful that I can pull this off.
Pixar Stuff
Got my demo reel in the mail from my internship this summer. Man, it was so awesome. Here are two selected works from the stuff I did.
This is my modeling and shading assignment. I had one week to model and one week to shade. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

This is the group project that I worked with Theresa and Joo-Yo on. Make sure to turn the quality up to 1080p.
When Ed Catmull saw this he said that it was "damn good". Our work here is done.
PBR Bounce Test
Here's a quick test of the PBR with one area light. This is lit in Houdini with a quick cookie thrown on the light. The light is bouncing of the ground plane onto the cylinder next to it. Although it's sucessful, I think it's still going to take some extra lighting to get the really warm effect that I'm going for.
For my next piece, I'm planning to emmulate the lighting in this painting.
